So it's been fifteen years since I graduated high school and even though I and several others stayed close to home to live and work, I rarely see many of my classmates. That's why I thought it was so nice to see a friend from school as I sat waiting for my hot & spicy chicken take out.
We chatted about jobs and life and school and wondered why we didn't have a fifteen year reunion, even though neither of us had gone to the five year or ten year. We talked about marriages - we're both still on our first, and kids and softball and drinking.
I left the restaurant feeling refreshed from our conversation. It is always nice to reflect on where you came from and to know that even though we hadn't talked in many years, we shared many of the same experiences. I also thought about how you remember people and how they looked the last time you saw them. Up until that night, in my mind, Angie looked exactly the same as she did when we graduated.
I settled my chicken safely in my vehicle and climbed in behind the steering wheel. I glanced down to get my keys and when I did this, I noticed that my fly was standing open. So, until we see each other again, I will live in Angie's memory with my barn door open. Nice.
